There are no shortage of things to do in and around Huntly, indoors or out, for young or old. Family swimming sessions at the town swimming pool at weekends are probably one of the most popular activities of the week. There is fishing for salmon and trout in the rivers and lochs, and cycling or pony trekking in the great tracts of publicly owned forests and woodland that surround the town.
In the summer cricket is played at all levels and rugby and football through autumn, winter and spring. The Strathbogie Horticultural Society encourages a keen interest in gardening and growing flowers and vegetables hosts an annual show in August. As a central base for enjoying the beaches of the Moray Firth – just half and hour away or the ski slopes of the Lecht, Huntly is hard to beat.
