The Big Lunch!

Aberdeenshire a Hot Spot for Big Lunches

Aberdeenshire residents have shown their support for The Big Lunch Scotland on Sunday 5th June, with a number of get togethers being organised throughout the region.

Big Lunches have been registered in Huntly, Banff, Banchory and Inverurie, ranging from get-togethers with neighbours in the front garden to large-scale celebrations that will quite literally stop the traffic.

The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many of the 61 million people in the UK as possible to have lunch with their neighbours for a few hours of community, friendship and fun.

Jayne Millar, Inclusion and Development Worker of Huntly Mental Health Ltd, also known as the Clashmach centre, is involved in one of Aberdeenshire's Big Lunches and is keen for the whole community to come and join in with the fun. Neighbours from around Huntly are invited to bring along their own picnic and have this topped up with a free selection of sensational salad, heavenly homebake and a choice of hot or cold refreshments. Neighbours can then join in the local town's yearly music festival, organised and hosted by Huntly's local community council in the town square. The local music festival in the town square will provide entertainment for everyone afterwards, which will be a great end to the day!

The Clashmach will be holding its Big Lunch at the stewarts Hall on Sunday 5th June from 12.00 2.00pm, a FREE event which is open to the whole community.
