The Hay Memorial Hall at Cornhill Wins The People's Millions!

Competing with the Steel Park project in Forfar, The Hay Memorial Hall successfully received the most votes on the night of November 25th, securing 50k from the People's Millions.

The project will enable Cornhill Village Community Trust to renovate the Grade B listed hall they own to attract more community groups to utilise the facility. Due to the disrepair and the uneven flooring, dance and karate groups have had to stop delivering these activities to the local community . In addition, the group now plan to install a new heating system, secondary glazing and insulation to attract even more users groups to use the hall. The new heating system and the secondary glazing will significantly reduce the carbon footprint and make the heating of the hall more cost effective. The hall is used by all ages and has served the community for 116 years - Cornhill Village Community Trust want the hall to serve the community for generations to come. Securing the £50,000 from People`s Millions is an enormous help, as trying to fundraise this amount locally would have taken years.

The People’s Millions is a grants programme run by the Big Lottery Fund, in partnership with ITV.
