Huntly Flooding

Huntly was subjected to its worst flooding in living memory overnight.

The floodwater, which peaked in the early hours of Monday morning, wrought chaos in the northern part of the town. The flooding was the result of torrential rain falling on already saturated soil and is the third episode of flood damage in as many months. Private houses, the Meadows Care Home, Huntly Castle Caravan Park and various sports facilities have been damaged.

The main A96 Aberdeen-Inverness road was closed for several hours at Huntly as the emergency services tackled the situation but is now re-opened.
