This project was inspired by the work of a group of ‘Land Artists’ working within their environment and the rapidly disappearing skills and crafts being lost by a generation of our youngsters. A group of S3 pupils spent a period of 12 weeks exploring the work of artists, sculptors and craftsmen who use traditional skills and natural materials. Through a series of lessons outdoors, within the class and at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop they have put together a body of work that will be exhibited locally. It has resulted in a group of youngsters who have been challenged and experienced skills not normally possible with in the constraint of the curriculum.
