Aurora Choir was started in May 2011, under the direction of Hugh Johnstone and Hannah McGinlay, in response to a community choir project. We were selected to be the main choir and performed with the RSNO in the Music Hall, Aberdeen in October 2011.
As Huntly’s main choir we are very keen to perform some of the choral works by Ronald Center. It would be very fitting to do this as Center spent much of his working life living and composing in Huntly and established a choral society here in his lifetime.
In conjunction with Music Centeral, we have planned a Ronald Center concert set for the first week in March 2014.
Huntly is, and always has been, a place of creativity. It is important that the music of Huntly’s greatest composer becomes wider known within the community and gets performed in the area. The Culture Fund grant has allowed Aurora Choir to achieve this.
