The Huntly Book Festival will run from National Poetry Day, Thursday 3rd October through to Sunday 6th. The four day festival will provide an outlet to celebrate and showcase local writers, providing interest and inspiration for readers and writers alike. Events will include author talks, writing workshops, craft workshops using recycled materials for bookbinding, poetry readings, debates and even a musical soundscape based on the sounds of the library and Orb’s Bookshop. We plan to make this an annual event drawing in folks from near and far.
National Poetry Day will be celebrated with pupils from the Gordon Schools reading their poems, a poetry performance by Howarth Hodgkinson and various poetry readings. Friday – Sunday will feature a variety of N. E. writers including, Charlie & Rachel Ashton, Maggie Craig, various members of Huntly Writers, Bill Kirton, Stuart MacBride, Simon McPhun, Alastair Scott, and Esther Woolfson who between them will be delivering a mix of talks, readings & workshops.
