Halloween in Huntly – Petrifying Arts Festival
Halloween in Huntly celebrates ancient Scottish traditions of Samhain, marking the end of the harvest, the end of ‘lighter half’ of the year and the beginning of the ‘darker half’
Our festivities incorporate traditions from pagan harvest festivals including customary Halloween activites like our masked pipe band march to the castle, guising, costume competitions, carving neep jack-o’-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, scary story telling and watching horror films, as well as more artistic observances like haunted interventions at the castle, performances and ceilidhs.
This year’s theme is ‘Back of the North Wind’.
