Loyalty card schemes using this technology have been implemented in a number of other towns, so far all in England. The first was Haslemere in Surrey in 2005. Towns to follow included Ashbourne in Derbyshire and Frodsham in Cheshire. A department store in Cranleigh, Surrey, has also set up a scheme.
Haslemere started their scheme in November 2005 – and it is still going strong! As the initial scheme using the technology, it gained great publicity, even appearing on 'News at Ten'. Now six years on it is still working well. A delegation from HBA visited Haslemere to learn about the scheme and were very impressed.
Huntly has learned a lot from cooperative people in these towns –especially Melanie Odell in Haslemere – and we would like to acknowledge here how grateful we are for their support.
